self confidence + trust… what it is, it’s benefits, and how to develop it

Finding confidence + trust within sounds simple, but it is one of the hardest things to do in my opinion. We are constantly taught that we should follow what others do, trust + listen to others opinions over our own, and are inundated with the constant noise that we are not good enough. In my own experience, I was too worried about what others thought, latched on to the belief that I wasn’t good enough, and didn’t trust my inner voice. Doing this led me down so many paths that were the wrong ones for me and ultimately led to some pretty self destructive behaviors. I found myself constantly trying to prove my worth and build my confidence by impressing and getting approval of rather than staying true to myself and trusting that I knew what was best for me.

Once I tapped into my self confidence and started to trust myself, I was able to start making the RIGHT decisions for ME. Learning how to be confident within ourselves, taking the time to build up our self esteem, and to actually trust what we know is right for ourselves makes all the difference in the world in this one wild and lovely life we get.

what is self confidence + trust?

Self-confidence is trusting your capacities, qualities, and judgements. It is belief in yourself and your abilities. It is also about building the trust within yourself to know that you can build + sustain the habits you need to maintain your confidence.

By showing up for yourself in small ways, you will build the confidence to know that you can show up and handle anything that comes your way and chasing your wildest dreams.

why is self confidence + trust important?

When you have a high self-confidence, it is shown that you will most likely have a happier and more fulfilling life. It promotes overall wellness in your life but also promotes:

  • Increased motivation

It really can shift your life perspective to one that is filled with possibility and positivity.

how to practice self confidence + trust:

There are so many ways and avenues to explore when diving into self confidence + trust but here are practices that I find extremely beneficial:

  1. Start a self confidence affirmation practice:

  2. Start a self confidence journal using journal prompts:

    Journaling is a great way to dive into a certain subject and using journal prompts can also be a great way to dive even deeper. Please see below for 5 journal prompts to get you started:

    3. What are 3 of your strongest qualities?

    4. What are 5 of your best personality traits?

  3. learn about self esteem:

    Self Esteem is essential when building up your self confidence and inner trust. Learning as much as you can about self esteem and finding the practices and advice that resonates best with you is essential. There are so many books, podcasts, and articles out there that can help you on your journey.

  4. Work with a counselor or therapist :

    If you find that tapping into this side of yourself is difficult or if you need more support, working with a licensed mental health professional would be a great option if that is an available option for you.

  5. Guided Workbooks:
